SAM HENKEL - LONG ISLAND STUDENT
Hi, I am Sam Henkel, and I am 11 years old. I live in Long Island NY. One of the things that I personally like about ACT is the long hours. During those hours I learn a great deal. The bonding with my fellow actors/actresses is a lesson for life in itself. It helps me meet new people and I have become comfortable in school socially. I can relate to anyone on the playground or in any situation the world throws at me. The main reason that I came to ACT however, is that I wanted to step it up a notch in my personal training as an actor.
Recently, I was in a school production “The Princess and the Pea,” where I played the part of young Edgar. When the final curtain went up and I bowed to the audience at the conclusion of the play, I received one of the loudest applauses. Even the vice principal went out of his way twice to compliment me on my performance. I was able to use the techniques that the ACT instructors taught me to excel in this performance, and it showed!
ACT also teaches me self confidence, relationship skills, and the ability to be creative. However, and most of all, ACT is giving me the chance to fulfill my dream of becoming a star in TV, film, and/or commercials. This is what ACT truly means to me.
